Learning Outcomes;
The individual using lie, deception detection and investigative interviewing to comprehend situational awareness
Learning Outcomes (in their own words).
Methodology of Reporting
In conventional research documents, the results in essays that are written in the student’s own words are left out. In this document some of the student’s results are inscribed herein. It is imperative for students to comprehend the results of others as one of objectives is to discover things that could be happening under their own nose. Therefore, we add these outcomes that may trigger a person’s memory of results or issues that they may uncover or affirm.
Questioning formula: Qualitative and Mixed Methods Research (Dr John W. Creswell)
All reported back on 2 questions, namely
- How is your level of situational awareness {Qualitative}?
- Describe your interactions with others using the method. {Mixed Methods}
These questions are repeating for a period of 9 weeks which is termed a cycle. On repeating the cycle, the questions are asked again, and the results show the change in outcomes which proves the fact that the learning method is based on constant results of change. Students that do certification courses repeat the cycle for a period of 9-14 months and then provide 3 off 2000-word essays.
The reports of which you can find in THE FEEDBACK section on this website, is the same from all at specified times during their step by step journey through this skill-development method. This feedback and results on the mixed methods describe results as by using the skill-sets to discover the lie, perhaps if people are hiding something and why they are volunteering information.Furthermore, the stories uncover issues that they have encountered which proves the fact that the methods used to obtain a desired result work. Furthermore, the feedback is a mixture of, and in no order from and professionals, such as educationalists, top security & investigation, professionals, psychologists, coaches and trainers, as well as entrepreneurs and business professionals.
Assessment: Learning Outcome in Reality
The comments are collated from professionals with Doctorates or Masters’, and down to the floor level security officer
Assessments were collated from professionals in various fields or job functions that did the training themselves and related it to their region of interest. The reports are herein.
The outcomes in every which way confirms a heightened sense of situational awareness that is obtained from a one-day workshop or going through the learning curve as prescribed. Each cycle the student repeats acknowledges and confirms the change in outcomes as outlined in the document which proves the level of awareness, decision making ability and instinctive react speed.
Qualitive and Quantitive report by William – Traffic Officer
Cycle1: I am paying more attention to people now. Particularly the eye talk, it’s been like watching a light bulb come on at times.
Face Talk: I’ve found face talk more difficult to practice at work as most of our interactions with the public unfortunately tend to be negative anyway. (Nobody is ever happy at receiving a parking fine!)
Hand Talk: ‘’I feel my situational awareness improving every day.
Just this morning I was having a cigarette outside before starting work when a member of public (that I’ve not met before) walked passed and I noticed that just the sight of me standing there in my uniform (which is very similar to the police here) drew a look of contempt from him and he was clenching his fists. I also noticed that as he got further away his hands relaxed again.
It was such a brief encounter and something that I probably wouldn’t have even noticed previously. I’m really enjoying this awakening’
Cycle2: I was able to watch a documentary on “Killer Women” and I was able to conclude she was guilty early on as she displayed every indicator I’ve learned so far when she pleaded her innocence. It was like a visual checklist.
Now, I’ve never really been interested in this genre of television before, but I found it quite exciting to see the process unfold.
I did notice when she was asked more ‘structured’ questions (the kind that she would have spent years thinking about in prison) she seemed to believe her own story and was a very good liar, but the more impromptu questions seemed to catch her off guard.
Cycle 3: My interactions with others have been rather limited recently as everybody I meet when I’m working all have the same “why?” -they don’t want a parking ticket.
But I have found I am making more of a conscious effort to listen to people and read them than I did previously.
And it is still a very conscious effort on my part as I do get ‘blindsided’ by members of the public occasionally, finding myself on the back foot and unprepared to read them.
However, I am now aware of this and handling these situations a lot better, often just by asking them to wait a minute or to simply start over giving me that moment to prepare myself.
Overall, I’ve notice my interactions with members of the public have been a lot more positive, despite me usually delivering them ‘bad news’, as my ability to distinguish the genuine and the disingenuous improves.
Cycle 4: I now find I’m getting sincere apologies and even the occasional thanks for issuing them with parking fines.
I am still finding my situational awareness is improving with this training on top of my tactical experience. I still must make the conscious decision to read people, but it is getting easier to flick that switch now.
I’ve noticed a lot of the trivial things I did to get people to talk more/elaborate I’ve already been doing naturally for years, without realising what I was doing before.
I’m a lot happier with my interactions in general now, whereas before I could only rely on my gut feelings about people, I can now put my finger on what/why that gut feeling is.
I also noticed I’m looking back on past interactions with more clarity now.
