Answer: ”Where was I last night? (repeating question backwards)
I went to play soccer with some friends”
”Where you going past your neighbors house to soccer?”
Answer: ”I was walking past the neighbor’s house ”
Remembering
” Was there any other people standing near the house?”
”Yes,there was some people standing near the house”
[Not trying to remember]
”Was there anybody standing near the house?”
(repeating again)
”Yes, I just said there was people standing near the house”
Not trying to remember and thinking what to say
”Who was standing near the house?”
Answer: ” There was 2 men and a woman ”
Constructing a story
”Where they wearing rain coats or did they have umbrellas as it was raining?”
Answer: ”They had rain coats”
Lying/Hiding something
” I do not believe you?”
Answer: ” You do not believe me
– I just told you that I saw three people
– why don’t you believe me?”
”I am shocked” [Displaying surprise for 5 minutes]
” I do not believe you because we have CCTV footage and there are no other people outside the house?”
Answer: ” No Answer?”
Tight-lipped
” Do you have anything to say about this?”
Answer: ” No, I do not have anything to say on this – and I want my lawyer now ?”
In despair (worried) – talking to himself
[They tricked me I did not see cameras -How am I going to get out of this?”]
Stressed and trying to stop the words coming out of his mouth
”Confess now and we will talk to the prosecutor and tell her that you have co-operated with us?”
I have a good lawyer – he will get me out of this mess
[He does not agree thinking to himself]
”I want my lawyer now?”
Tight lipped – not saying another word
